Botkin Hospital - yesterday, today and tomorrow

Botkin Hospital admitted its first patients back in 1910; it is one of the oldest clinics in the city. Honorary citizen of Moscow Kozma Terentyevich Soldatenkov gave two million roubles for the construction of a "free hospital without distinction of ranks, class and religions". The hospital bore his name till 1920, when it was renamed Botkin Hospital in honor of the founder of the Russian therapeutic school – Sergei Petrovich Botkin.

Botkin today is the biggest multispeciality hospital in Moscow, that occupies almost 20 hectares of land in the city center on the Khodynka Field. Every fourteenth patient in the capital receives inpatient care here: almost 100 thousand people are treated in Botkin Hospital every year.
